How can I Edit my Chart of Accounts?

There are a few options to edit previously imported chart of account segments.

Non-API-integrated accounting software (file export based)

To update a previously imported chart of accounts, you have the following options:

1. Adding accounts individually: You can add individual accounts to your chart of accounts by navigating to the Settings tab, selecting Accounting, and then Chart of Accounts. Click on the add button in the top right corner and enter the necessary information (code/number, name, account type).

2. Bulk-adding accounts: If you prefer to add multiple accounts at once, simply send us a spreadsheet with the account details (code/number, name, account type), and we will import them for you.

3. Deactivating/Hiding Accounts: To deactivate accounts in your chart of accounts, go to the Settings tab, select Accounting, and then Chart of Accounts. Toggle the account status to the left of an account to hide it from your drop-down menus.

4. Editing already added accounts: To edit accounts in your KleerCard account, just navigate to the Settings tab, select Accounting, and then Chart of Accounts. Click on the ellipsis button to the right of the account row and update the necessary information (code/number, name, account type). 

5. To establish parent-child relationships between segments, you can designate Segment 1 as the parent of Accounts, with Accounts serving as the parent of Segment 2. When these relationships are assigned, the parent segment will filter the child segment to display only the children of the parent, as well as any objects within the segment that do not have an assigned parent. This organizational structure simplifies finding and assigning accounts for team members within your chart of accounts. To set up these relationships, click on the ellipsis menu located to the right of the intended child account and select "Edit." From there, choose the option that indicates this account has a parent, and select the appropriate parent from the dropdown menu.


API-integrated accounting software (Quickbooks Online, Aplos, ParishSOFT)
If you are using accounting software that is API-integrated, you can import accounts from your accounting software by accessing the Accounting Integrations settings page. After importing, to deactivate accounts in your chart of accounts, navigate to the Settings tab, select Accounting, and then Chart of Accounts. You can then toggle the account status to the left of an account to hide it from your drop-down menus.

Accounting software conversions
